Dolls House World  |  May 21
Getting a shabby chic look is nowhere near as easy as it looks. Marc La Fontijn has the envious knack of making it look effortless. His house, featured on the cover, is a fabulous example.
If you want to achieve the lived-in look a good place to start is ageing your furniture. Kris Compas shares her techniques this issue for making an armchair appear worn and loved.
Some lovely stories too this month. Like Dianne Hawkes coming across a Robert Stubbs house in an antique shop on holiday, with the family, in a caravan. Did that deter her? Not a bit of it. She stored the house under the awning to the delight of other campers.
And then there’s Sophie Dalton, a nurse on a breast cancer ward, who escapes the stress of the job through her myriad of marvellous mini scenes created in her garden.
We also introduce you to some talented makers. There’s Cristina Hampe, who has followed her creative passions despite some childhood challenges, and now makes wonderful mini food. We’re sure you’ll love her work as well as Daniela Kiefhaber’s dolls and Loredana Tonetti’s gorgeous teapots.
You’ll notice we’ve moved our popular Cutouts pages this issue in response to many requests from readers. Now you don’t have to make the difficult choice of which side to use. Enjoy the issue.
