LATAM is reactivating its nonstop route between Santiago, Chile and Orlando, Florida. The link, available from June to September, is being resumed by the carrier after a pause in 2018. The joint venture between Delta Air Lines and LATAM has already resulted in six new routes directly connecting South America with the US.
Flag carrier Aeromexico will resume daily operations with a Boeing 787 between Mexico City International airport and Seoul’s Incheon International. Departing from Mexico City, the service includes a stopover at Monterrey International airport. From Seoul, the route will fly nonstop to Mexico City. The South Korean connection, which starts on August 1, is Aeromexico’s second destination in Asia after restarting nonstop operations to Tokyo in March 2023.
Porter Airlines is adding three new Embraer E195-E2 crew bases across Canada, accommodating more than 350 pilots and cabin crew, to support its rapidly expanding North American network. The selected bases are Ottawa International, Montréal/ Trudeau International and Vancouver International airport. This summer, Porter will operate 14 nonstop routes from Ottawa, six from Montreal and three from Vancouver. The carrier currently has approximately 650 pilots and 775 cabin crew operating from an Embraer E195-E2 crew base at Toronto/Pearson, and Dash 8-400 crew bases at Toronto/City, Ottawa, Halifax and Thunder Bay. It expects to have approximately 2,000 total crew by the end of 2024.
