Model Boats  |  August 2017
This August issue includes a full-size Free Plan designed by James Pottinger for a model of Lonabrak, a modern catamaran workboat that makes a pleasant change from the more usual single hulled models we see at the pondside. Anthony Addams has built the tiny r/c 1:48 scale Fairey Huntsman kit, that he has named Procket, if only because it fits easily into a jacket pocket, and Eris Kennedy has worked his ‘plastic magic’ skills on the 1:350 Trumpeter Liberty Ship kit to turn this into a practical working model, which he has named Java Sea. There is a comprehensive photo report from the 2017 Coalville Model Boat Show, an event widely regarded as a success, it being now sponsored by the Component Shop. In Flotsam & Jetsam, John Parker remembers Modelcraft Limited, a long defunct company which at one time had a huge range of plans and products for all branches of the model making hobby. Dave Wooley is now back 100% after his recent illness and for this issue he is looking at two fine warship models in depth and continues with the OSA 2 205U project. We also have all the usual other regular columns including Boiler Room, a nice Gallery by David Walter of the classic sailing craft at Maldon and Chris’ Drage continues with 1:700 waterline dioramas, this month discussing the subject of ‘white horses’ on a seascape, and so I hope there is something here for all our readers.
