Forget talk of a brave new world, this was Groundhog Day for England as they were embarrassingly bundled out for 184 on the opening day of this first Test against Pakistan. Things were meant to be different after a nightmare winter that saw Joe Root’s team suffer in Australia and New Zealand as they extended their win less run overseas to thirteen matches. But any hope home comforts
might bring a change of fortune were scotched after Pakistan seized complete control of this contest. Alastair Cook was the only bright spot for the hosts.
