American Queen faces another long lay-up.
RICK FRENDT
American Queen Steamboat Company was formed in 2011, with a view to rescuing and returning to service the steamboat American Queen, the largest sternwheeler ever built. American Queen had been laid up since November 2008, following the collapse of her then owner Majestic America Line.
In 2018 Victory Cruise Line was taken over, together with its pair of coastal ships, Ocean Voyager and Ocean Navigator. With operations on the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers, as well as the Great Lakes, the company ceased operating on 20 February and filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. The future of the 1995-built American Queen, remains uncertain.
