RV Trip Planning During Winter

This year you have either winterized your RV or made alternate travel plans in lieu of using it to head south. If you have done the former, like many Canadians do annually, don’t despair.
The blanketing snow of winter is no match for setting up camp under clear blue skies in warm weather, but we believe that planning a trip is always half the fun when visiting places less travelled. But just because your RV is out of sight, doesn’t mean it should be out of mind. Winter is the perfect time to brainstorm new destinations, and determine what upgrades your trailer, motorhome, or tow vehicle require for next season.
One of the ways to do this is to shop for aftermarket products and essentials you didn’t have, but required, last season. Need a new set of batteries or want to find new power options? Are items in your RV tool kit getting worn? Or, are your RV tires showing signs of too much travel?
This is the time to start browsing, pricing and seeing what is available. Shopping for your RV is a lot of fun, can be done anytime, and even serve as a reminder to grab all those other things that you neglected when you were on the road. Discovering new gear or systems can breathe new life into RV travel. There are a plethora of great resources including associations, retail sites, in addition to online forums and community-based RV networks to connect with fellow RVers.
In fact, networking is another way to obtain new information, especially when it comes to travel as gathering as much information as possible about a new destination is always a good idea. Although it’s exciting to just ‘wing it’ with no set agenda, having some sort of plan is necessary so you can be prepared for the unexpected. As a result, you will have smoother, more enjoyable times on the road, which is definitely the most important part of any trip.
