Dolls House World  |  Issue 371
As Picasso once said: “Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working.”
We catch up with several miniaturists this issue, who’ve obviously been busy working.
Antonella Nardi relies on photos and historical research to find the inspiration to create her stunning furniture and beautiful dresses.
She says: “I only make objects that I like, that I find elegant and worthy. I like to reproduce reality in miniature.”
At the other end of the mini rainbow Chloe Bensinger creates her Treehouse Creatures inspired by nature “with a touch of folklore and magic” thrown in.
Marc La Fontijn spent months researching underground caves so his twelfth scale scene from Phantom of the Opera would be the perfect tribute.
Lots of projects this issue whether you want to knock up some quick glazed vintage pots, put down some realistic stone flooring, or create some lovely little gift boxes. And you can even bake some tasty shortbread on the side.
Kris Compas found inspiration in a furniture catalog for the lovely cabinet she shows us how to make out of card. And when Auralea spotted a pretty mountain cabin online, she didn’t want to book a trip. No, she just wanted to recreate it in twelfth scale.
So if you’re struggling with your next scene or house, keep working, and inspiration will find you.
