DANZA&DANZA International  |  January/February
Dear readers,
We’d like to offer you our heartfelt wishes for a year full of dance, triumphs, live performances and theatres open to everyone, all over the world. 2022 has got off to an uncertain start, both in terms of new productions and fluctuating infection rates. Nevertheless, we want to look ahead. In this issue the British choreographer David Dawson tells us how he’s forged his art over the years and explains how Berlin, the city in which he lives, and Amsterdam, the city of his artistic residency, influence his creations. Susanna Salvi, newly appointed Étoile at the Rome Opera Ballet, details her career marked by achievements and choices, as well as mistakes, proving how determination and hard work can pay off. The on-trend collective (LA)HORDE – at the helm of the Ballet National de Marseille since 2019 – continues to develop its political and social vision of dance. After deciding to award their work Room with a View, which we saw at the Venice Dance Biennale, we wanted to get to know them better. In addition, as tradition dictates, in the first issue of the year we announce the Danza&Danza Award winners. Since its inception in 1987, the Danza&Danza Award has been giving annual recognition to the most significant artists and shows on the Italian stage. And in the issue many news from world, reviews and tips for shopping.
