There is no other bass player like Jeff Berlin. Educated, passionate, uncompromising and a bassist who has accompanied a stellar cast of artists as well as building his own catalogue, Jeff has taken the art of bass guitar to a whole new level. It’s been an honour to have him as a guest columnist in these hallowed pages for the last year or so, and what better way for Jeff to sign off than with a cover feature? We’ve also been treated to a rare sit-down with the great Carol Kaye, a bassist whose CV goes even further back than Jeff’s. Want to know what it was like to play with musicians such as the Beach Boys in rock’s golden era? Head there without delay.

This summer (yes, we actually had one this year) was a feast of festival goodness for bass players, so we dispatched the BGM team to fields of mud nationwide to catch up with stars of the low end. Behold our Cropredy and Love Supreme reports, where folk and jazz were the primary flavours, and also our Summer NAMM report, in which BGM heads to Nashville to sink a few beers with the good ol’ boys and learn about the killer bass gear heading our way this year. Add to that our usual, all-budgets, all-abilities reviews and tuition columns and you’re holding a bass package that is unequalled anywhere else. That’s enough from me: enjoy this issue and we’ll see you next month. Oh, and a quick heads up: the London Bass Guitar Show 2015 takes place on 7 and 8 March at London’s Olympia. Believe me, you do not want to miss this one...

Really interesting

Lots of interesting articles Revisto 25 abril 2022

Bass Player UK

I'm writing from Colombia. I really enjoy the magazine. Thanks guys. Revisto 20 dezembro 2020

Always a good read

Really entertaining view of guitar Revisto 11 julho 2019

Preferred the old reader

Although the new version has a few extra goodies like a side menu with all articles and a nicer layout, the zoom isn't as good as the old reader. With my phone horizontal the maximum zoom still has tiny lettering. It would be no good to someone who is short sighted. Revisto 24 novembro 2012
