We start this issue with an account of a week spent travelling around East Anglia by train in summer 1985, when the writer photographed the railway with DMUs and loco hauled trains still operating on what was still a largely steam era infrastructure.
A former railwayman continues his fascinating account of his early railway career at Bristol Bath Road depot as his experience widens.
The colourful Kent Coast EMUs are the subject of a feature of these often ignored trains operating on this busy part of Britain’s railway network.
We take a detailed look at some of the many cement terminals that were found all over the network with much information useful to the modeller.
One particular Brush Type 2 locomotive, D5654 (later 31224 and 31454) is the subject of a photo feature following the many changes in liveries over its career since 1960.
We examine some of the level crossings in the Avonmouth area and the traffic that operated there.
For our main photo feature we go to the Great Eastern Main Line from London to Norwich in the years when Class 86s were the main motive power on both passenger and freightliner trains.
Our featured layout in TRACTION MODELLING is inspirational Southgate Park which is based in South London in Network SouthEast days.

Traction

I love to see vintage diesel and electric locomotives from different decades, wish Traction would take me back through the 1960s Green livery and into the 1970s white roof electrics EM2 s to more BR Blue etc.
Would like to also see the days of turntables and gated level crossings with early signal boxes and stations featured too. Love the model railway sections these could also compliment the period featured.
Apt please as well specially as Hornby are releasing a brand new tooled model soon ow and the old 1960s and newly painted HST Blue Pullman comparison
Thank you love the magazine.

Traction

I particularly enjoy the articles written by former railway workers who describe their life on the railways in the 1980s and 1990s. Beoordeeld op 22 mei 2020
