Drama and Theatre  |  Summer 1 21/22
In Drama & Theatre Summer 1 we introduce a number of projects and initiatives with inclusivity at their heart. We learn about Ramps on the Moon – a project whereby a collective of theatres and theatre companies are working to make it entirely normal to see people with disabilities represented on stage; and about Ardent8, which takes a new cohort of young performers and creatives from across the country and makes opportunities accessible to them so that they can embark on their theatre careers.
For those whose students have a managerial bent, we talk to Stage One about their trainee producer placements in theatres, while the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama tell us all about their unique new course in scenic construction – giving un-thought of opportunities to young people whose practical skills could be of real value to the theatre industry.
Our Practitioner Focus this issue looks at Propeller Theatre, with practical exercises to do with your class, making the company’s techniques accessible to students; and all our other practical pages are filled with interesting and challenging workshop ideas. Meanwhile, we look at a host of new play texts, for study and performance, and reviews include live and online productions, a teacher webinar series on Our Country’s Good, and the book and score of a new Wonderland the Musical.
