As we head into darker days and even longer nights, all I want to do right now is snuggle up at home over easy suppers and no-fuss gatherings with friends and family. I love the simplicity of this time of year. It’s that delicious mid-season – and often seductively golden – lull when things calm down and become routine again. For me it’s the perfect time to schedule, organise and concentrate on our house plans. Two stand-out features in this issue, which are really helping me rethink both my bathroom and kitchen spaces, are Point of View on page 84, which is full of brilliant new ideas and dreamy looks for extending your kitchen with glass, and Beautiful Basins on page 116, which suggests that instead of revolving your bathroom design around the stand-out tub, you could try a revamp which puts your basins or vanity units centre stage instead. Continuing on the extensions theme, we have five gorgeous kitchen refits in this issue, all so different but all genius in their reuse of existing space and light. From the modern and gleaming sophistication of both Sue and Peter Best’s new-look kitchen on page 42 in Blurred Lines and Ruth and Simon’s glamorous refurbishment in In with the New on page 24, to the more traditional cabinetry and intimate feel of both the Paul’s and the Counsell’s kitchens in A New Chapter (page 34) and Family Friendly Flair (page 54), there are so many ideas about re-imagining rooms to inspire you. I also love the drama of the beautiful double-height kitchen extension featured on page 66 – those ceiling lights! You’ll find interviews with makers Forest + Found (page 82), chef James Knappett (page 102) and designer Collette Dinnigan (page 162) as well as loads of other shopping, styling and moodboarding ideas throughout. Here’s to revelling in the new-season cosy at home, and enjoy the issue!

Best value interiors mag!

I have been planning my new kitchen and home renovation for quite some time, it seemed to be taking ages to find quality inspiration and I bought so many different magazine trying to get ideas, until I downloaded an issue of EKBB. It was brilliant, there is so much inside and now I've got plans to renovate the whole house! It's real value for money and now I've got a subscription too! Recensito 19 luglio 2013
