A bit of a to-and-fro regarding classified ads broke out on
CMV’s Facebook page recently. The issue was the number
of ads on which the vendor neglects to give any indication
of price. I will say straight away that there is a minor
incompatibility between the databases employed by CMV’s
classified ads partner, Milweb, and that used by Kelsey Media
across its three-dozen or so magazines which means that
‘POA’ (price on application) can appear at the top of an ad even
though a price is mentioned in the text. Nevertheless, there is a
feeling that fewer and fewer ads include a price, and although
some Facebook respondents were not bothered by this, others
expressed their negative views in very strong terms indeed.
The good, bad and ugly of classified ads is something that
Nigel Hay of Milweb and I often discuss, so next month we are
going try to suggest some do’s and don’ts that might just help
you write an ad that will have prospective buyers reaching for
their phones.
But that’s next month. This month there’s a definite Gallic
flavour to CMV, beginning with the feature on the French
SAS and Henri Pilon’s recreation of one of the unit’s Jeeps.
It is all too easy to forget the part the Free French played
in the liberation of their own country and Henri’s Jeep is a
timely reminder. Then we have Barrimore England-Davis’s
description of his search for and acquisition of a Panhard AML
60 armoured car and its eventual restoration.
Crossing the border into German territory, Jochen Vollert has
once again come up trumps with a feature on Beute – or war booty
– British Cruiser tanks captured following the
BEF’s withdrawal from France. They weren’t the best tanks in the world but some found their way onto the Eastern Front... not that, they lasted long. Who’d have thought it... only one careful previous owner, POA.

Classic Military Vehicle

wonderful magazine Recensito 16 aprile 2020

Best Military Vehicle Mag Out there

There are many specialist military vehicle mags, but this one is still the best for the range of topics / articles and quality. Recensito 01 ottobre 2018

Found it again

Didn't know this magazine was still going as its not in my local shop anymore. Great to find it still is and thinking about a digital subscription now as it is so much cheaper, and I think I prefer the digital version without the staples in it. Recensito 16 luglio 2013
