Beautiful, historic Stamford in Lincolnshire – the backdrop to numerous classic films and a town that boasts one of the highest densities of listed buildings in the UK – was home to the Your Dog team not that many years ago, including Norfolk Terrier Bertie, who as a puppy would travel with me to work every day. So, I can certainly vouch for the town’s dog friendliness, from walks in The Meadows down by the river, to strolling through its busy streets boasting 17th and 18th-century charm and a host of independent shops and eateries. It’s featured in our guide to Britain’s most dog-friendly towns and cities this month, and I’d certainly recommend a visit if you get the chance.

Getting your dog to settle has been more important than ever recently with so many of us working from home. Nobody wants to be in the middle of a Zoom meeting or a conference call, only to have their dog join in by dancing around the room with a squeaky toy!

Steven Mann takes a closer look at this in his latest ‘dog trainer diaries’ article, and explains how it’s less about teaching a cue and more about creating the correct environment, and ensuring your dog has sufficient mental and physical outlets throughout the day.
Finally, check out how travellers Esther Dingley and her partner Dan Colegate fell in love with a little stray dog in a Spanish cafe and ended up with a whole lot more than they’d bargained for — in the shape of six puppies! The way in which their experiences and their dogs have enriched their lives is a really uplifting story.
