We’re having a bit of a celebration in this January issue to mark the 150th issue of our sister magazine Drummer and, although I say it myself, I think we have a lot to celebrate and be proud of. The drum community is a great one to be a part of and even in a digital age, people still appreciate the magazine. I’ve had an enjoyable time speaking to contributors and previous editors for our 150 feature – they have some good stories to tell! We’re still going strong after 13 years so, most importantly, thank you for reading the magazine and supporting it.
Our main interview this month is with the huge personality that is Gregg Bissonette. He has played on just about everything you can imagine, from film scores, TV, and advert jingles to sessions, tours and Ringo’s All Starr Band. We caught up with him from his main stage performance at the London Drum Show to find out what makes him tick. We also have interviews with Mikkey Dee of Motörhead, Robin DiMaggio (MD to the United Nations) and Jessie Ware’s sticksman Kaz Rodriguez.
If you were unlucky enough to miss the 2015 London Drum Show (what were you thinking?) then don’t worry, we have a round-up of the weekend here for you. And why not see if you can kick off the year with a bit of good fortune by entering our competition for a 20” Meinl Byzance Extra Dry Dual crash/ride on page 20.
We’ve also got reviews of the Steve Gadd Band at Ronnie Scott’s, as well as all of our usual top tuition, reviews, news and much more.
Here’s to 2016 being a year full of drums, happiness and more drums!
