Furniture & Cabinetmaking  |  October 2009
In my opinion woodworking is about choices and balance: how much time one chooses to give over to practising sharpening to achieve the perfect edge, how much effort and time to make repeated cuts in order to master making dovetails or other joints, how much research and experimentation so that one can create a suitable finish for a project no matter what the item, how much time to spend in the workshop against being with the family doing something other than woodworking. Reading and fishing are my hobbies and just lately, much to my annoyance, I have been doing more reading than fishing, but, hey! I’m sure I’m not alone in getting frustrated by not being able to do all the things needed or desired.
