MAKE MORE BIRDIES BY OPEN CHAMP JORDAN SPIETH
Jordan Spieth sees no reason to start cursing his luck. A multi-millionaire at
the age of 19, he became a three-time Major champion at the age of 24 and could complete the career grand slam by the time he’s 25. He’s bashful enough to admit that he’s not played his best golf this season, but then the same was said 12 months ago when he arrived at Royal Birkdale. He left a week later with the Claret Jug in one hand and a cheque for $1.85 million in the other. He is known to save his best for Majors, which is just as well as he’s nowhere near the first page of the formbook right now. Try the third, maybe even the fourth. In 16 starts this season, he’s posted more missed cuts (five) than he has top- 10s (four). For so long, he was considered the best putter in the world – Gary Player likened him to Houdini – but the PGA Tour puts Rory and 187 other players ahead of him in strokes gained on the putting green this season.
