As we are getting this issue of TBT & Friends ready to go to print, I have been enjoying watching the Winter Olympics on the television. It’s so exciting to watch the thrills and hopefully not spills as the athletes skate, ski, slide and sweep through their events.
All the medallists are presented with a panda but it appears not to be a soft, cuddly one - what a shame! The Games are, of course, being held in Beijing, the capital city of China, the country of pandas. This got me thinking about other countries and what animals might represent them in a similar scenario. Here in the UK we have been known for the British Bulldog and also, particularly in football events, for the three lions. America has its Eagle as well as a few bears of course. I wonder what creature you would like to represent your country if you had the choice.
I hope you enjoy the selection of bears and critters in this issue. We have a few new features too: Lisa Pianigiani is taking us on a tour of her native Italy through the eyes of her bear Duccio, and Vanessa Barham of Nessa Bears talks all things beary as she looks forward to the slow return of bear fairs. There are all the usual favorites too, so make a cuppa, sit back and enjoy the read.
