A new design being developed by Ulstein Design & Solutions is expected to result in the building of two new cable layers for Singaporebased Megamas Resources.

Norway’s Ulstein Design & Solutions has been contracted to complete a conceptual design for a new cablelaying and repair vessel for Singaporebased Megamas Resources for service by early 2026, with a sister following in 2027. The 120m by 23m ships will have a deadweight capacity of 8,000 tonnes and accommodation for up to 70 technicians and crew. The 14-knot DP2-rated vessels will be fitted with integral hangars for remotely operated vehicles.
