FOLLOWING major overhaul, Richmond Light Railway’s (RLR) Bagnall 0-4-0ST Pixie (2090/1919) is to be unveiled in steam, during a July 6 Relaunch Day at the railway.
Pixie was saved for preservation by the late Rev Teddy Boston and ran at his, now closed, Cadeby Light Railway. Following his death, it was sold to anew owner in March 2006 and dismantled for overhaul. The project was not finished and the components were purchased by Jeremy Martin mid-2019 and subsequently sent to Ffestiniog Railway’s Boston Lodge where the overhaul has been progressed to completion.
RLR’s annual Charity Steam Fair will follow on August 10. The steam fleet in action is expected to include Hunslet 0-4-0STs Elin and Sybil, Decauvilles Chuquitanta and Lily, in addition to the newly overhauled Pixie.
