You get an added bonus in Old Glory this month, with the Heritage Guide Part 2 (August-December) sponsored by Legacy Vehicles, giving you 80 pocket size pages of events to attend. If you missed out on Part 1, which was in the April issue of Old Glory, it is still available, tel: 01959 541444. Steam wagons are big in the May issue, when we meet up with John Butler of Kent and look at a Foden wagon he owned in the 50s -80s.
We look at a Burrell No. 3918 traction engine that has recently changed hands, Arthur Battell’s new book, Wyhall Museum’s appeal for the restoration of Midland Red D7 bus and the FBHVC’s carbon balancing scheme. It’s all happening at the Essex & Suffolk Water Museum of Power and Jeff Burgess went along to see what the volunteers were all working on recently. Trevor Smallbone pays tribute to his good friend Jim Sarney in the second part of the article. James Hamilton was up at Tavistock and tells us all that has been going on at The Robey Trust premises. Zack Stiling was at the NEC for the Restoration Show and brings us the highlights. We also look at the wreck of an Aveling & Porter roller that Niall Byrne and Hannah Bickley have now restored to perfection.
Old Glory is well known as being number one for steam, miniatures and Sally Clifford visited the Lygo family to see their miniature steam Fowler road locomotive and Foden steam wagon and how they built them.
David Reed visited the Claymills pumping station at Burton Upon Trent to get the latest as to what’s going on there, with more to come on the site in a future magazine. Tim Gosling starts his series on Dennis lorries in World War One with some lovely pictures and Derek Rayner starts his black and white picture steam bus series.
Well respected author Nick Baldwin continues his new authoritative A-Z series on steam manufactures across the world.
There is so much more in the magazine, this is just a taster. It’s also the place to advertise FREE.

If you love the spectacle of immaculately-restored old machinery, or are fascinated by Britain’s rich industrial and transport heritage, Old Glory is the magazine for you! In vivid detail it brings back all the sights and sounds of yesteryear.
Glorious showman’s engines belt out the amperes to drive historic fairground rides; pairs of mighty steam ploughing engines turn the soil; steam rollers make up roads once more; tram wheel flanges squeal through town and city streets; colourful working narrowboats ply the canals; dray horses deliver good ale to the pubs; vintage tractors cough into life; stationary engines turn over tirelessly and the commercial vehicles we used to know take to the road again.

Steamy Stuff

Great Read guys, I've been getting your magazine from day one and now I can carry all my latest copies round on my tablet which saves Doris having a go for filling the shed with even more stuff. Brilliant. Revisado 24 noviembre 2012
