WHITEHAVEN have fined former captain Dion Aiye the equivalent of his wages during an eight-match suspension imposed by a Rugby Football League tribunal after he was convicted of assaulting his ex-partner.
The 35-year-old former Papua New Guinea international, a regular in the Whitehaven side since 2015, admitted assault by beating and harassment and was given an 18-month community order.
Preston Crown Court also imposed a five-year restraining order banning him from contact with his victim or her daughter.
