Cruise & Ferry  |  C&F Interiors 2016
The outcome of the collaborative craftsmanship that delivers passenger ship interiors is the character of the ship – if the design is effectively executed her personality will perfectly suit the ship type and her passenger profile. This is something that Richard Meadows knows only too well. In his keynote, the Cunard North America president explains how he has paid homage to Cunard’s British heritage when injecting new life into Queen Mary 2 during her recent renovation. The unique interior demands of ships are considered at greater length in our roundtable with Richard Hellar, Glen Moroney and Daniel Skjeldam. Also in this issue, Petra Ryberg, Adam Tihany, [SMC Design] and Andrea Gangale provide insightful commentary on the personalities that they have enriched with show-stopping form. Francesca Bucci refers to “a little dance between the two” as she craved the perfect balance for Azamara, achieved by Destination Immersion. We also recognise the role of the outfitter in executing the design brief – these often overlooked artisans provide the craftsmanship that uphold the standard of finish so admired by passengers.
