What better way to end the 20th Anniversary year of Big Carp than by launching the third era of the Big Carp Rotary Letter? I am very excited to tell you that I have a special BCRL issue for you this month and from a line-up of anglers just as good as any of its predecessors. This month we discuss some very relevant questions posed to us by you the readers.
Winter bait and baiting – a subject on every carp angler’s mind at the moment as bites become harder and harder to come by, and what a diverse array of answers from our team. I was amazed at the difference in techniques and styles from what I consider to be the ‘A-Team’ of anglers on today’s pressured big carp circuit: Ed Betteridge, Jon McAllister and Sean Leverett – all three out there at present catching extremely well on a variety of waters, but what a contrast in ideas. There’s certainly more to discuss on this matter next month. The question on wind effects also gave a whole spectrum of thoughts and findings drawn from over three decades on the bank by the learned panel.
I don’t intend to steal the thunder of the letter in this piece but DO NOT miss this issue if you are at all interested in where you think the next British record will come from. We’ve a gallery of the country’s biggest and potential records from all over the country, with some very frank views on some of the contenders with dubious origins. With questions also on the current big carp scene and the demise of the ‘legendary fish era’ this month’s letter is unmissable, and there will be more from our team each and every month from now on.
