Drama and Theatre  |  Summer 1 - 23
In the Summer 1 issue of Drama & Theatre, we celebrate technical theatre – and all the elements that go into creating a staged production. We meet Peter Butler, a set designer at the top of his game, shining a much-needed spotlight on a profession too often overlooked in conversations around live performance. To tie in with the release of her book Teaching Performance Practices in Remote and Hybrid Spaces, Jeanmarie Higgins outlines some of the ways we need to bring the digital mode back into our in-person teaching to help enhance our Drama classrooms. One of our regular writers shares her experiences of joining the teaching strikes for the first time and the complicated nature of this decision, while actor Eleanor Pead shares her frustrations with the lack of financial education in our Drama curriculum and Aimee McGoldrick asks why we don’t have a governing body overseeing the safe running of out-of-school Drama clubs.
