The month of March — ‘in like a lion, out like a lamb’ — has much to recommend it. For starters, the clocks go forward at the end of the month, which means we’ll all be able to enjoy longer and more varied walks with our dogs. Check out ‘10 ways to make the most of your dog walks’ (page 10) and ‘Walking adventures’ (page 38) to get some inspiration and ideas on how you can make them the best ever!
For adventurous types, there’s ‘Try something new’ (page 24), which looks at some of the sports and activities you can get involved in with your dog — and March 2022 just might be the perfect time to start. As well as talking to experts in their fields, Julie Hill has caught up with some owners who take part in a range of activities, from parkour to hoopers. Why not have a go yourself?
If all this extra activity means you and your dog are spending more time in the car, it’s worth assessing whether car travel for your dog is as safe and comfortable as it should be. In ‘Well travelled!’ (page 14), Alison Gallagher-Hughes considers some of the best travel options for dog owners and their pets.
Finally, be inspired this month by the remarkable partnerships of Isa Randle and her brave little Chihuahua (‘Heart of gold’, page 18), and Milly Elliott and her guide dog Libby (‘A winning team’, page 50) — these are heart-warming stories and a must-read for all dog lovers.
