PIERRE CHESNEL, 31, CABIN CREW AT VIRGIN ATLANTIC
We met in 2008 when he started at Disneyland Paris. We were both performers, but we both had boyfriends so it was a bit awkward. At first we didn’t speak, we just looked at each other a lot. I made the first move, talking to him on Facebook, but Darren got a contract in Japan so we had no contact for a long time. When he came back to Paris, we were both single. One day, I decided I wanted to be with him, so we arranged to meet. We spoke for an hour but I just couldn’t say it. I kissed him, and that’s how it started. He introduced me to his family, and we fell in love. We left Disney to see if our relationship would work outside that bubble, and it did. We worked on cruise ships together and shared a cabin, so we lived, slept and worked side-by-side. We’re meant to be together; he’s my best friend. Because Darren works on ships still, it’s quite hard, but we’re in contact every day. With Virgin I get cheap flights, so it’s easier to see him. We got married in 2013 and it was amazing; I couldn’t have hoped for a better day. Darren’s work on cruises ends in November, but he’s not ready to give up dancing. It’s his passion. I’m happy for him to dance as long as he wants to.
