SUNSET BLVD
The Dandy Warhols have not been an easy band to pin down for more than 20 years now. You can still picture them in their swaggering psych-pop pomp, even if in 2003, they began to pivot towards electronica with a little production help from Nick Rhodes.
Since then they have shapeshifted frequently, in 2020 presenting the world with Tafelmuzik Means More When You’re Alone, a mildly baffling three-and-a-half hours of ambient instrumental music. Last year’s psychobilly-adjacent The Summer Of Hate single suggested the four-piece could be returning to some semblance of normality, relatively speaking, and so it proves with Rockmaker.
