BAIRSTOW PROVES HE IS A CLASS ABOVE REST
England coach Trevor Bayliss believes Jonny Bairstow can now go on to establish himself as the No.1 wicketkeeper in the side after scoring his maiden Test hundred at Newlands. Bairstow’s landmark innings was almost lost amid the mayhem of Ben Stokes’ record-breaking double hundred on day two of the drawn second Test against South Africa. However, Bairstow’s first century in his 22nd Test was a huge moment for the 26 year old and Bayliss now believes the confidence he will take from it will have a positive effect on both his batting and keeping.
