Vintage Trucks & Commercials  |  January - February 2021
Issue #63 of Vintage Trucks & Commercials Magazine is filled with a multitude of vintage trucking stories on some of Australia's most historic rigs.
This issue covers a detailed pictorial spread from Tony Petch with a interesting tale on Barry Petersen, an Owner/Driver from the Hunter Valley; and Vaughn Becker discusses Wandoan & Taroom District Transport as a follow up to issues 62’s The Taroom Tragedy.
We have a new section from one of our regular feature writers – Paul Tol. Paul brings us Long Forgotten Names in Trucks and reports on in detail on the British marque ‘W&G du Cros’, that started in Acton, London in 1901 as a motor importer before making lorries and buses under the W&G name – with a few surviving examples in Australia. Also delving into history, we have a look into the lives of Brooks family from Cooladdi with the story of the Cooladdi Mail Trucks and the detailed restoration of a Morris and a Chevrolet used on this mail run from the 30s to the early 2000s.
Les Morley gives us a very interesting tale on Tasmania’s Apple industry and how the first trucks came into use, replacing cart and buggy in his story ‘The Apple Case’. Greg Cavanagh introduces us to his 1952 Bedford, that he picked up from a clearing sale as a side project from growing grapes on his farm., and how he restored the 6-cylinder English truck back to its glory.
This issue also sees the return of the upcoming events, with vintage trucking events coming up around the country, news and letters from our readers, Truck Art, Forgotten Names in Transport and our jam packed classifieds section where a host of trucks and other items are up to buy or sell.
