Patchwork and Quilting  |  Jan-19
Happy New Year! Another year has passed and another milestone for us at P&Q. Welcome our 300th issue! That’s a lot of projects and articles that have entertained and inspired quilters for over 30 years. I wonder even if P&Q is the longest running quilting magazine in the world now? We’re kicking off 2019 with a new block of the month quilt, Stars and Flowers, designed by Louisa Goult. This delightful quilt will combine traditional piecing together with Louisa’s signature curved English Paper Piecing. It will run until the November issue so now is the time to take out a subscription to make sure you don’t miss an issue! The Woodland Quilt features fabrics from one of Makower’s latest collections. I am secretly in love with the striped binding on this quilt. I just love the colour of it! Another favourite project this issue is Kerry Foster’s Wildflowers quilt. You could beat the winter blues with the lovely bright Jewel Box Scrap Quilt, which should hopefully make a dent on your stash too. Rosemary Rosenfeld shows us her cute Ladybird Quilt and we also make a Butterfly Cushion. Lots of reading for you this month. We take a look at Welsh quilts at the recently refurbished Gweithdy Gallery at St Fagans Museum and meet Maggie Taylor in Meet a Quilter. We take a look at the Anni Albers exhibition at Tate Modern and Avril Young tells us about her Eagle Quilt. Paula Simpson shows us her First and Last quilts and we meet United Quilters in Introducing.
