Living Blues  |  Living Blues #246
Living Blues #246 (December/January 2016) focuses on kinship in the blues. Our cover artist is Georgia bluesman William “Big Bill” Morganfield, the 60-year-old son of Muddy Waters. Although estranged from his father much of his young life, Waters’ influence on Bill was deep and eventually led him to become the bluesman he is today. The sixth of Eddie and Vera Taylor’s eight children, 44-year-old Eddie Jr. has inherited his father’s gift for playing the blues. The daughter of Rufus Thomas, sister of Marvell and Carla, Vaneese Thomas carries on the family tradition of musical creativity. While Willie Dixon’s son Freddie discusses his fall from music and his return to active playing today. We also say our final good-byes to LB co-founding editor Amy van Singel with a tribute. All this plus nearly 50 reviews, Blues News, Breaking Out with young harp player Andrew Alli, a talk with Detroit’s Thornetta Davis and much more.
