BMW’S new 5 Series marks a high point of automotive engineering. It arrives in a world dominated by SUVs, but that it appears as perhaps the most rounded car that BMW has yet built shows there’s life in the saloon yet. No manufacturer is blind to the necessity of SUVs or the need to build as many of them as possible to keep up with customer demand.
