A warm welcome to Issue 12 of Air-Style Magazine
While we’re wondering quite where the year went, we have another amazing edition of your favourite magazine to ease you into 2024.
Our cover vehicle is Dimitri Laneau’s 1960 Beetle. He says standard VW Bugs don’t really do it for him, so he built one with attitude.
One thing that’s always great to see is how the love of air-cooled Volkswagens is multi-generational. Toby Lee from Newquay in Cornwall comes from a real VW family and started owning Volkswagens at just 12 years old. Now 18, he has a daily driver that is a real head turner.
Talking of head turners, Dan Dryden’s ’72 1302S certainly ticks that box, as does Manuel Vanluchene’s ’68 Samtrack. What’s a Samtrack I hear you ask? Well, that’s exactly what we asked too - all will be revealed.
Air-Style’s resident Bus expert David Eccles continues to look at the history of the Devon and Richard Copping takes us back to 1957 with his popular delve into the VW literature archives.
Michiel Vercruysse also got the VW bug at a young age and is the proud owner of a very cool Pearl White ’66 Deluxe Beetle, read his story.
As we dream of sunnier days, Phil Neal’s ’70 convertible Karman Ghia should have you reaching for the sunglasses, in more ways than one. And if stance is your thing, take a look at Darren Walker’s ’68 Early Bay.
The Air-Style team have been getting out and about and took in a tour of the VW Engine Company, and Air-Style’s Jon Morton got himself along to one of Type 2 Detectives’ legendary Boot Camps – something he says he should have done years ago.
If you’re thinking about a Westfalia and wondering which one to go for, the Wolfsburg Bus Crew have done all the hard work for you – they go into detail with Crew members who are Westfalia owners.
All this and much more awaits you in another issue that we are incredibly proud of. Thank you for all your support – without you guys and girls we wouldn’t be able to do what we do.

Like many great origin stories - the idea of Air-Style VW Magazine was conceived in a pub. Four like-minded friends knew that they weren't alone in their love for all things Volkswagen. They felt there was a gap in the market for the many that shared their passion, and believed that they could provide a service that speaks to the people in love with the cars, vans, music and lifestyle that makes the VW fandom so unique. Throughout the various pub meetings that followed, the premise grew from a concept into a fully functioning business plan. Their mission was simple… to provide VW enthusiasts with a dedicated publication in which they can learn more about their beloved brand, and share their experiences with other VW devotees.

Fast forward to today, and Air-Style VW Magazine has surpassed expectations. Proud to pair their own passion with fellow VW enthusiasts - Air-Style VW’s success has stemmed from the creators being genuine fans of the brand. Each issue is packed with a combination of car based content and real life stories that educate, inform, and inspire.
