American Miniaturist  |  Issue 236
A downside to being a creative person is that you have more ideas of things to create than you have time. Which makes prioritizing a must. I tend to have so many ideas that I feel guilty for not exploring all of them. But I am only one person so I came up with a method that has really helped me.
Sit down and list your ideas and as you’re writing you will get a feeling for which spark the most passion within you. Those are the ones to really nurture, but you don’t have to discard the rest. You can keep a binder or journal and add ideas as they come to you. You can even tape in inspirational photos and fabric/color swatches. This way your ‘extra’ ideas can stay alive and be tended to, but in a different way than actually building them. If you see certain tutorials in AM just write a note in your journal with the issue and page number. If you see certain artists who make just the right miniatures for this idea, write their names and websites down too.
Ideas can be explored outside of physically making them. They could even just stay dreams forever. You could draw little sketches for them. They could be part of your daily meditation to unwind. Think outside of the box where you are free to fly!
